AT&T is also devouring solid contact homers and cheap homers. The worst home run of 2018 was tracked at just 88 MPH. A player would convert 17 percent fewer barrels into home runs at AT&T than a league average stadium.Īs mentioned earlier, not all homers are barrels. The average barreled homer at AT&T Park is hit at a higher angle (27.9 degrees) than any other park.īecause players must hit the ball higher, AT&T Park sees the fewest barrels converted into home runs: 40.9 percent. If we look at barreled homers, the story is the same though less extreme. Increasing launch angle is less efficient at AT&T Park at least in terms of converting batted balls into home run. The home run expectancy drops over 20 percentage points. Let’s see what happens when we drop it down another degree to give it the profile of the average barreled non-homer at Dodger Stadium. The home run percentage decreases but not significantly. If we lower the launch angle by a degree, let’s see what happens. The yellow dot to the left of the right field 375 marker amid all those other home runs was a double hit by Justin Bour at AT&T Park. Here are balls hit at 103 MPH and 25 degrees or the average barreled non-homer at AT&T Park.ħ3 percent of those balls have gone for home runs in the Statcast era. It may not seem like a huge difference, but using Statcast’s field visualizer we can see what an impact that extra degree and a half makes. That’s the slowest average exit velocity (though league average is 103.8), but no other park sees anything higher than 24.9 degrees. At AT&T Park, the average barreled non-homers are tracked at 103.2 MPH and 25.6 degrees. It’s interesting if you look at the average exit velocity and launch angle of barreled non-homers. The only other parks to convert fewer than 50 percent of barrels into home runs are Comerica, Kauffman, Fenway, and-oh god damn it, the Braves moved parks and I didn’t account for it-a combination of Turner Field and Sun Trust Park. We’ll have to think of a new name for AT&T South because Petco Park actually grades out above average in this category. In fact, it ranks dead last in HR/Barrel percentage (barreled home runs divided by total barrels). But AT&T Park has seen the fewest barrels go over the fence. It’s fifth behind Comerica Park, Fenway, Chase Field, and Kauffman Stadium. I was surprised to see that AT&T Park didn’t have the most barreled non-homers. I still refer to Chase Field as Bank One Ballpark. I figure that’s easier than going by stadium because I don’t keep track of the corporate sponsorship deals teams have. Note that the labels are by the home team, but it includes barrels hit and allowed by that team at home. I split them into two categories: barreled homers and barreled non-homers. I have looked at all barrels hit at every park by both home and visiting players in the Statcast era or since 2015. 57 percent of all barrels tracked by Statcast have gone over the fence. Not all barrels are home runs and not all home runs are barrels, but over half of barrels do go over the fence. A barrel is any ball that’s hit at such a speed and such an angle that a player is expected to bat. You’re probably familiar with Statcast’s barrels. We know that it’s hard to hit a home run at AT&T Park, but just how hard is it? The average baseball stadium has seen 731 dingers. There have been 459 home runs hit there over the past four years. Since 2015, AT&T Park has seen the fewest homers by a large margin. Last year, Grant showed that AT&T Park was completely immune to the home run revolution. Remember, wRC+ adjusts for the park, so even considering they play in an extreme pitcher’s park, they haven’t been good.īut even visiting teams struggle to hit the ball out of AT&T Park. The last time the Giants had a wRC+ of over 100 was in 2015. An easy enough explanation is that the Giants aren’t good at hitting. The last time the Giants finished higher than 25 th in homers was in 2014.

I also liked how Ubisoft made a small change to make it easier for people who are colorblind to play this game. The Xbox One version of this game worked fine, but the PS controller was much more responsive. Riders Republic gameplay makes up for its graphics because the controls are great on a PS controller. There are mountains for snowboarding in the winter or dirt biking in the summer. The Riders Republic is a game where you can do many different sports. Want to know more about us? IST 10:50 am: Riders Republic now reports back that a bug-fix update has been seeded out to users on Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 4|5. > - Please stay tuned for further news in the meantime. More information can be found on our post here. Hey there, the Bunny Outfit has been disabled temporarily so the team can further investigate an issue affecting Riders Republic. Thankfully, Ubisoft cleared it up ans said they the Bunny Costime was not missing and they disabled it to investigate an issue. Many were confused as to what happened to their Bunny costume. I had them and was wearing them and when i logged in yesterday out of rest mode they were all gone. ( my bunny pre order outfit is gone along with my blue bunny head are missing. Anyone else having this issue? They were present in my inventory this AM but have now disappeared? Sourceīunny outfit and heads from preorder now missing. It seems that players were able to equip the outfit sometime ago but it seems Ubisoft has disabled it now. Some are saying that the Riders Republic pre-order Bunny outfit ismissing. Are you noticing an improvement?Īs it turns out, that is not the only bug currently affecting players. Mass Races have temporarily been switched to 32 players to help resolve this. We are aware of Xbox players reporting game crashes. Thankfully, Ubisoft seems to be aware of Riders Republic crashing on Xbox Series X and said it is currently under investigation. Players said they did not experience such issues when playing the trial version of the game. Playing on Series X and it’s not just a crash to dashboard it’s completely shutting down my Xbox after crashing. Impossible to play Mass Races without it crashing between rounds, various events crash and it’s the same ones it can be replicated and between most rounds of multiplayer it crashes, it’s fucked. I’m aware mass races cause crashes but I’m just playing regular races. Not gonna lie this game is unoptimised so many issues certain races just cause your xbox to lock up to point it shuts itself off not sure how this got past Q&A and yes the preload includes the day 1 patch. While most reports suggest the crashes occur when playing mass races, others say the game crashes randomly. However, soon after it’s release, Riders Republic players say the game is crashing on the Xbox Series X. However, the console version of the game allows only up to 20 players. The multiplayer mode allows more than 50 players to play against each other. In case you aren’t interested in the multiplayer aspect of the game, Riders Republic also features a career mode that allows you to enjoy the game solo. It is an open world that features several American national parks and combines them into a single map. According to Ubisoft, Riders Republic is a massively multiplayer sports game. The game lets players choose between five activities – snowboarding, wingsuit flying, skiing, mountain biking, and even rocket wing suiting. Developed by the same studio that brought us Steep (Ubisoft Annecy), the game was launched on October 28 and is published by Ubisoft. If you are into sports video games, chances are pretty high you have heard of Riders Republic. Original story (published on October 29, 2021) follows: New updates are being added at the bottom of this story… The IOUserBlockStorageDevice API appears to be designed for basic block devices like a thumb drive that read/write sectors and that’s all.Ĭonsider that FUSE is not a block device but a file system. I see that but that API is extremely limited. Native support for FUSE everywhere would be a godsend!Īh. I’ve been wanting to do this for years but support for open file systems is lacking. It would be extremely useful to be able to mount all my network file systems from all my devices. And android too!! It just seems like 3rd party file systems are not a priority for any of these companies. I’ve long wanted microsoft to support FUSE on windows too. Too bad Apple doesn’t provide an explicit API for alternative filesystem support, considering they are apparently discouraging kexts now. Does the NFS implementation on macos do client side caching? If so it could certainly skew results too. This would place more stress on the FUSE implementation itself rather than remote network file systems. To test FUSE’s own overhead it might be best to mount a loopback file system with minimal overhead and reading/writing many small files (as opposed to just one big file). They reference sshfs, and I wonder if that’s how they tested it? If so I would think that might be the bigger bottleneck rather than FUSE itself. Is anyone here willing and able to benchmark it? I’m curious about that myself, but unfortunately there was no benchmarking data or indication of how benchmarking was done. I was pretty surprised when they mentioned it is faster, but sounds good. But I was fed up and it pushed me towards open platforms. Interestingly I faced the exact same conundrums with windows file system drivers and considered the same kind of hacks there. Going through NFS is in no way ideal, but it may be the best option in light of apple increasing the obstacles for community supported kernel drivers. However there may be obstacles in reaching the ideal solution, which seems to be the motivation for this project. A kernel driver can clearly can do everything the NFS driver and more. Well, the ideal solution really is a kernel driver assuming there weren’t other barriers at play. “The point being this is not an ideal way to implement FUSE.” while seemingly more complicated, works better. Would that be the ideal solution? That was how it worked before – not done by apple but nevertheless a s a part of the kernel. I keep telling osnews to put this in the site FAQ. How can I quote here the way you did? Unable to find this option…. It’s a hack that exists to mitigate restrictions that have made it hard to install & use a proper FUSE kernel driver. The point being this is not an ideal way to implement FUSE. Consider if there are changes to NFS implementation or policy (say authentication/security/crypto/etc) these can potentially impact FUSE file systems that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with NFS. While this link is not related to this project or macos, it does highlight another problem introduced by having FUSE atop NFS model… įUSE becomes dependent on an unrelated network file system and its changes. Say we want to implement memory mapping or some other feature that doesn’t map to NFS, well too bad because now everything has to be hacked in terms of NFS packets. Requiring FUSE to be underpinned by NFS further limits what our FUSE file systems can do. This creates a significant overhead over read & write syscalls that typically would have been extremely efficient with a kernel driver that can read/write process memory directly. This necessitates the generation, buffering, and parsing of TCP packets. KERNEL->NFS DRIVER->TCP SOCKET->FUSE NFS SERVER EMULATION->USER SPACE FILE SYSTEM Moving the FUSE driver into userspace is a hack at best and it looks like this: KERNEL->FUSE KERNEL DRIVER->USER SPACE FILE SYSTEM However barring an official apple implementation of FUSE, the next best thing would be a 3rd party kernel implementation as follows: Ideally there would be a direct path from the FUSE API to the kernel, maybe even one implemented by apple themselves. But now consider how FUSE itself needs to be implemented to hook up file systems into the OS. All FUSE file systems will be implemented in userspace using this API. The entire goal is to create a userspace API for file systems. Take a step back and think about what FUSE does in the first place. In this case it is clearly the better solution: this should not be in the kernel-space. Not the same functionality but actually faster, better support for file-locks and better stability. Nina Stone, also known as Miss Nina, is an educator and three-time Parents’ Choice Award-winning musician who created a fun YouTube video and clean-up song for kids. Here are a few other clean-up time songs aimed at helping toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners get excited about cleaning up after playtime.īerkner’s “Clean It Up” song on YouTube is a short, lively ballad that teaches kids the importance of tidying up, getting across the message that “you can make it fun to do:” But Dora and Barney are not the only TV characters teaching kids how to clean up their toys. But if you’ve got writer’s block, there are lots of good clean-up song lyrics for toddlers available right at your fingertips.ĭora the Explorer and Barney both have clean-up songs on YouTube the clean-up song Dora sings is pretty adorable, and the clean-up song Barney sings is both cute and extremely catchy. If you’re creative and good at rhyming, you might want to try making up your own clean-up song. Kids can complete a task that is associated with the song (in this case, putting away their toys) without ever having to be told what to do. This means there is a clear stopping point, as well as an opportunity for mastery. When the song is done, the task is also done,” she adds. “The kids know what they are supposed to be doing as soon as they hear the cue of the music starting. “The ritual of hearing the same song every time a child does a particular task is a way to create an experience that is reassuring and safe,” Berkner explains. There are a lot of reasons tidy up songs work. “I loved it and we started singing the same songs at home so there was a connection between home and school with cleaning up.” One Texas mom, Heidi McBain, says her son used to come home from preschool singing a clean-up song. If your kids are already singing clean-up songs at preschool or clean-up songs at kindergarten, you can reinforce the learning at home. This makes cleaning less like a task, and more like a game or a dance.” How to Use a Clean-Up Song for Kids “Singing helps encourage the kids to do the action of cleaning along with the rhythm. I’ve found that the idea of ‘sing it, don’t say it’ is one of the most effective ways to communicate with toddlers and preschoolers, especially in a daycare or classroom setting,” says Berkner. Music tends to go around the block and reach them,” he explains.Ĭhildren’s musician Laurie Berkner, who was once a preschool teacher, says, “a good clean-up song lets kids know what is expected of them and encourages them to tidy up in a way that’s fun - without an adult having to tell them what to do. “Children are used to constantly hearing adults talking to them and learn to tune it out at a very young age. Clean-up songs in kindergarten are also quite common.Īdam Cole, a music teacher at First Presbyterian Preschool in Atlanta, says the brain processes music differently from language and when you combine the two, the music tends to take precedence. Preschool teachers use clean-up songs as a way to signal that it’s time to stop playing and put the toys away. Simply put, a clean-up time song is one that encourages kids to pick-up after themselves. Poppins created the concept of a clean-up song when she first sang “A Spoonful of Sugar” 54 years ago. Well, if you’ve seen Mary Poppins, you know how the super-nanny uses the power of singing to convince her charges, Jane and Michael, to clean their room. Mercifully, the sensational “Poor Unfortunate Souls” has no changes to its lyrics, but it does omit a crucial verse. Great musical numbers dive beyond the surface, but “For the First Time” just reinforces what we already know. Most of what Ariel is singing is exactly what’s on screen, merely telling us everything we can see with our own eyes. The issue here is that it feels more like narration than an actual song. It’s certainly the best of the new additions, and that’s largely thanks to Bailey, who sings it so beautifully and fills it with personality. The song explores how Ariel feels now that she’s on land. “For the First Time,” gives Bailey the chance to show off more of her vocal talents - a smart move since she’s far and away the best part of the movie. It’s hard to believe the gist of Eric’s plight - that he’s unable to live life as he wants - when he’s doing exactly what he wants while singing about his so-called restrictions. But sure enough, just a few seconds later, he’s singing on… a ship. Plus, the whole issue of Eric feeling trapped is drastically undercut by the fact that his mother, just moments before he began singing, told him he can never get on a ship again. Every one of them has stood the test of time, and that’s rarely clearer than in the stunning new rendition of “Part of Your World,” courtesy of our new Ariel, the wonderful Halle Bailey. The 1989 film is a legitimate masterpiece, and its songs, from composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman, are perhaps the film’s greatest strength. Part of the increased runtime comes from new music there are three new songs added to the mix - “Wild Uncharted Waters,” “For the First Time,” and “Scuttlebutt.” There’s also an additional reprise for the classic “Part of Your World,” as well as lyrical changes/omissions to two of the original songs: “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and “Kiss the Girl.” Everything about this film is bigger than its predecessor. Disney’s latest live-action adaptation, The Little Mermaid, is here! As per studio standards, it is a significant expansion of the 1989 animated classic, increasing it by a whopping 52 minutes. |
